About Madison Care Management

My background

I was trained at UW-Madison in psychology and social work, earning my MSSW in 2005. My entire career has involved advocating for those who are aging, facing end of life, in hospice or living with chronic or serious illness or mental health concerns.

My passion began in elementary school, when my Girl Scout troop visited "adopted grandparents" in a local nursing home; I visited my adopted grandmothers beyond the visits our troop made, often bringing my little half sized cello to play for them, or reading, singing, or bringing them gifts. Both of my adopted grandmothers had died by the time I graduated from fifth grade, but a love of working with older adults was born.

I have worked in a nursing home, in hospice, in an academic medical center's cancer program, in a community cancer center, on national helplines for cancer support, and as a brief counselor/therapist for those living with cancer.

What is a Patient Advocate?

Choosing to hire a patient advocate means you are deciding exactly how much care and assistance you want, at the time and frequency that you want it, in order to best meet your goals for your healthcare, independence, and life.

Rather than an agency or healthcare provider telling you when you can receive services and what you can receive, an independent patient advocate is flexible, tailored holistically to you, and allows you to develop a relationship with one individual, who you can grow to trust and rely on. As your goals change, the case manager can change with you.

No medical advice is given, but an enhanced understanding of your personal diagnoses & treatment plan, and assistance with navigation of healthcare and billing systems is available through a patient advocate.

Helping you meet YOUR GOALS is my goal for you.
